Towers (Vermishard)

Towers of Metrol are where the city got its nickname “The Rising City” from. The towers are made of stone columns which are not natural, but existed before the human city was founded at their base. They differ in height slightly (although some clearly match), and are around 600ft high. The towers are known as the ‘Vermishard’ and has hosted the Royal Palaces of Cyre since the cities founding.

Air tower

The Air Tower (3rd tower from the west edge of the city) is a relatively new addition to the cities infrastructure. This tower was originally gifted to Lyrandar by the King of Cyre in 120YK and Lyrandar established an Enclave mainly pushing research on Weather and Lightning Power. When Lyrandar opened its new line of Elemental Air Transport (YK990) in direct competition to Orien’s Rail and Teleport network it agreed to sell the site to the City for practically nothing in a calculated bid for longer term profits.

The tower still hosts a Lyrandar Storm Spire, but the majority of the platform was renovated to host air travel in YK992. The Air Tower dock (from which other such facilities took their generic name) was the first of its kind, and compared to its modern contemporaries, pretty basic. At its height before the Mourning in 994 YK it hosted 3-4 airship docks and expanded cargo & passenger transport from the ground to its spire.

There are 3 Elevator complexes on the Air Tower one on each spur of the tower. Each Complex has 1 Cargo and 1 Passenger lift, they also have a service ladder to allow access to the top when lifts are not working. - Passenger lifts can hold 500lb and move at 60ft per round, taking 10 rounds (1m) to reach the top
- Cargo Elevators can hold 2000lb and travel at 15ft per round, taking 40 rounds (1hr) to reach the top - Climbing the tower with 30ft speed would take (2m)

Airships

In 998YK a Scryed Chicken was sent into Metrol via a mysterious Teleportation Circle which has appeared outside Metrol Cathedral. The chicken observed that the Air Tower appears to still be intact and that 2 1st generation Airships were docked at the Air Tower during the Mourning. One appears intact (deactivated ring), while the other is a broken husk.
