- Default position is that a creature occupies the same height as it does width/length on the grid.
- Remember that creatures do not necessarily fill a space on the grid, they occupy it
- This is just the area they can dodge, flex, move and generally control
- Natural reach does not (in 5e) in anyway interact with a weapons reach. It is just the maximum distance a creature can stretch is appendages to.
- Just because you can hold your arms out 5ft strait in front of you does not mean you can effectively wield a sword at that distance.
